Katy is full of families eating out and looking for somewhere new from the car.
How I approach itKaty is one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. That means new customers every month — and a new business opening on your street every month too.
Katy's growth changes the rules for a local business. Families are moving in constantly, people who don't know the area and who search Google for absolutely everything: where to eat, where to get a haircut, who to call about the A/C. They have no word of mouth yet because they just got here. You become their word of mouth if you show up.
Retail is the largest employment sector in Katy, and you can see it on the ground: the commercial corridors are filling with new storefronts. That cuts both ways. Good, because demand is real. Bad, because your competition is new too, chasing the same customers, and some of them have already worked out that you can't compete without a website.
There's also a shift underneath all this that a lot of local businesses aren't taking advantage of: the University of Houston is expanding its Katy presence, and industrial and data-center growth in the area is bringing well-paid work. That's people with spending power moving in and looking for local providers on their phones.
In an established neighborhood, thirty years of reputation protects you. In Katy it doesn't, because half the neighborhood just arrived and has never heard of you. Here a new customer finds you on Google Maps or doesn't find you at all. That's why in this area I push the Google Business Profile before any website extra: it is literally how someone who moved in last month discovers you.

How I approach itNew houses and newly moved-in families: remodels, A/C and repairs nonstop.
How I approach itEvery family that arrives needs a new barber. Whoever lets them book online keeps them.
How I approach itKaty is about 30 minutes from where I'm based, so meeting in person to talk through the project is easy if you'd prefer that. And if you'd rather handle everything over WhatsApp and video calls, that works too.
Yes, the whole Katy area and the surrounding communities. And I'll tell you they're fairly different audiences: in Cinco Ranch and the newer developments, customers search on their phone and compare on Google before calling, while in Old Katy, long-established businesses and word of mouth carry more weight. If your business sits in one area and your customers come from the other, that changes how the site should be built — and it's one of the first things I'll ask you.
It helps precisely because the competition is new. When you're all equally unknown to a customer who just arrived, the decision gets made on the only thing they can compare: what they see on Google. Whoever has reviews, a site that loads fast and prices stated up front wins that comparison. Whoever has just a phone number loses it without ever knowing.
